The FSU Applied Behavior Analysis program will host an ABA conference, including a guest lecturer, job fair and panel discussion, Feb. 12-13 at FSU Panama City.

The two-day conference starts at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, with Dr. Jeanine Stratton presenting “The Mind of the Consumer: When 'Going Green' Gets Gray.” Stratton will discuss making good choices in an era of greenwashing, a marketing ploy in which a product is deceptively advertised as healthy and eco-friendly.

Stratton specializes in behavioral approaches to organizational performance improvement, consumer behavior and marketing practices. She is an assistant professor in the Business and Accounting Department at Furman University.

An ABA Job Fair will be 10-11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13. More than 20 agencies, including many founded by Florida State alumni, will be at the event to recruit Florida State ABA students.

The conference concludes with a lunch and panel discussion on “I’m Educated…#NowWhat?” from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13. During the lunch, four ABA alumni will discuss entrepreneur opportunities in the ABA field. Panelists Belkis Coupet-Aguilar (’02), Jennifer Rava (’06), Rachel Wagner (’10) and Heather Marshall (’13) will offer knowledge, tools and resources for creating and running a successful business. They will speak from personal experiences in creating a successful ABA agency, emphasizing ethics and character, supports/mentors, standard operating procedures, and accountability and monitoring.

All events are open to the public. Lunch is free to current FSU students and $15 for the public.

BACB Continuing Education Units will be available through ECABA for $10 per unit. Thursday’s lecture is 1½ unit, and Friday’s panel discussion is 1 unit.
