Business Administration

The Florida State University College of Business was founded in 1950. Although among the youngest business schools in the nation, it is one of the ten largest in the U.S. The Florida State University College of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the premier accrediting agency for degree programs in business administration and accounting.

The Florida State University College of Business undergraduate business program was ranked No. 4 in the nation for return on investment by Business Week magazine in 2010. U.S. News and World Report in 2010 ranked the FSU College of Business undergraduate program No. 35 among public institutions in the nation.

FSU Panama City graduates receive the same nationally recognized degree as students attending the main campus in Tallahassee. Small class sizes and accessible faculty promote a more personal learning environment. Day and evening courses are offered by full-time resident faculty.

The Business Administration degree is flexible, with 9 to 12 hours of general (outside the major) electives. Students are offered opportunities for professional preparation through interning with local businesses and organizations.

The Business Administration program at FSU Panama City is committed to providing students the general education and technical knowledge necessary to enter the business environment and to pursue a successful professional career. It is a challenging journey that explores both the business and government sectors and the challenges and opportunities of today and tomorrow.

Similarly, if for example both FIN 4424 and FIN 4504 are completed, one will count as the required FIN course and the other will count toward the three additional courses required.

Additional Information:
1. In addition to the requirements outlined above, each student must complete all University-wide requirements for graduation. These requirements include:

 a. Liberal studies (general education) and the Gordon Rule writing requirements: Transfer students with an AA degree from a Florida community college have automatically met the general education and Gordon Rule writing requirements.
 b. Multicultural requirement: Students transferring with 60 or more hours must complete one multicultural course. Other students must complete two multicultural courses. Courses taken at a previous institution may be used to satisfy this requirement.
 c. FSU residency requirement: Each student’s last 30 hours must be in residence at FSU.
 d. Total hours requirements: A minimum of 120 hours is required for graduation. At least 45 hours must be completed at the 3000-4000 level. Note: The specific 3000/4000-level courses required in the business administration major total 42 hours. Therefore, at least one additional course must be completed at the 3000-4000 level.

2. All courses are not offered each semester. Students may obtain a list of projected course offerings by semester from a business administration advisor or from the FSU PCC website under the section for undergraduate business programs. All course offerings are contingent on available funding, available instructors, and sufficient student demand.

3. Students must not enroll in any course at another institution without first receiving approval from the College of Business. Once enrolled at FSU, students should plan to take their upper-level business courses at FSU. Any exception to this policy must be approved in advance by the College of Business. Transfer of upper-level business courses completed prior to enrolling at FSU must be from business colleges at other 4-year, accredited institutions. These courses must be approved for course substitution by the College of Business upon entering FSU. (Contact Dr. Paradice to request any approvals.)

4. Oral Competency requirement met with GEB 3213; University Computer Literacy requirement met with CGS 2100.
