Education

Degree Program Overview

The College of Education at Florida State University Panama City has provided students with the resources and opportunities necessary to become educational leaders since the campus’ creation in 1982. Hundreds of students have earned their undergraduate and graduate degrees from this nationally-recognized program.

The undergraduate programs in the College of Education prepare beginning teachers for a wide range of educational careers. The faculty provides experiences that enable students to acquire professional competencies required in each field. The College believes that all of its students should acquire a solid grounding in the liberal arts and an understanding of human learning and behavior. The responsibility for meeting these academic goals is shared by the College and by other colleges, schools, and departments in the University.

Most students begin their college education at a regional community college and then transfer to FSU Panama City after earning an Associate of Arts degree or after 60 or more semester hours of transferable credit have been completed (transfer requirements).

Once at FSU PC, students must also apply to the College of Education and to the undergraduate program in Elementary Education or Social Science Education. Both programs are designed to provide both the academic foundation and the practical school experience necessary to becoming a successful beginning teacher. Contact a faculty advisor for assistance with program requirements and application deadlines.
